Populist Dialogues - Urban Renewal Districts Cause Under Funding of other Government Services

Host David Delk talks with Shelley Lozenzen with the League of Women Voters of Portland on the consequences to Urban Renewal Districts on the revenue positions of other governmental bodies (cities, counties and school district primarily). The focus is on the recently approved Portland State University District. By limiting funds going to to other governmental bodies and poring that money into the urban renewal district, our schools and other public function (streets, fire and police, etc) end up being underfunded. Ms. Lorenzen also describes the failing of this particular district to met the criteria for an urban renewal district.
